Meat 4.0 refers to the application fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) technologies in meat sector. Industry components, such as robotics, Internet of Things, Big Data, augmented reality, cybersecurity, and blockchain, have recently transformed many manufacturing sectors, including agri-food industry. The need for digitalised automated solutions throughout whole food supply chain has increased remarkably during COVID-19 pandemic. This review will introduce concept 4.0, highlight its main enablers, provide an updated overview recent developments applications innovations advanced techniques digital transformation process automation A particular focus be put on role enablers processing, preservation analyses quality, safety authenticity. Our literature shows that significant potential improve way is processed, preserved, analysed, reduce waste loss, develop safe products high prevent fraud. Despite current challenges, growing sector can highly using smart technologies, robots sensors based spectroscopy imaging technology.
